Our Work
Integrated programmes that meet children, young mothers, and the elderly where they are — and walk with them toward independence.
Room to simply be children
In the slums of Kampala and Wakiso, and the villages of Kyegegwa, vulnerable children face poverty, limited access to education, inadequate healthcare, and social stigma that puts their development at risk. Dovan Foundation works to close that gap — supporting access to education, basic needs, and physical wellbeing, including games, sports, and physical education that give children room to simply be children.
From surviving to building a future
Many young mothers in our districts face teenage pregnancy, domestic violence, and parenting without support — often without the resources to build an independent life for themselves or their children. Dovan Foundation provides guidance and counselling, alongside education and health support, to help young mothers move from surviving to building sustainable futures.
A conviction too often left out
As Dovan Foundation has grown, our founders have extended the same conviction to a group too often left out of conversations about vulnerability: the elderly in our communities. This is a newer and growing focus for the Foundation — grounded in the same commitment to dignity, companionship, and support that has always defined our work, and one we intend to build into a fuller programme as our resources grow.
Human dignity is not age-bound
In many communities, elderly individuals over 70 years of age face severe marginalisation. Most mainstream developmental and economic programs intentionally or systematically exclude this age group. Because their advanced age brings challenges like limited mobility, hearing loss, and chronic health conditions, traditional aid organizations often view them as “low-return investments.” Left without a voice, financial stability, or physical strength, these elderly women quickly fall into extreme poverty and profound social isolation.
Human Dignity is Not Age-Bound
We believe every human being deserves a dignified life from birth until their natural sunset years. Advanced age should never be a sentence to neglect and starvation.
True Community Transformation
A community cannot fully thrive if its most vulnerable people — who spent their youth raising the younger generation — are left to suffer in absolute vulnerability.
Closing the Exclusion Gap
Because mainstream programs reject them due to their high care demands, Dovan Foundation deliberately steps into this gap to serve as their primary safety net.
Festive Season Kinship & Presence
Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges of aging. During major holidays like Easter and Christmas, our foundation team personally visits their homes. We bring special holiday hampers, share meals, sit and converse to break their isolation, and lift them up in deep prayer.
Affirming Value and Respect
Every engagement with our elders is explicitly designed to remind them that they are highly valued, deeply loved, and fiercely respected cornerstones of our community, ensuring they never feel forgotten by the world.
